Karen is a Curriculum Director for the College Board’s AP Science program.  She currently manages the AP Physics B, AP Physics C, and AP Environmental Science courses.  She also manages the curriculum redesign project for the new AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 courses that will launch in 2014-2015. Karen has been in the field of education for over 13 years.  She transitioned from a biological research setting to secondary science education in Atlanta, Georgia where she spent 10 years teaching in both urban and suburban high schools.  During this time, she designed and conducted professional development for AP teachers for the Georgia Department of Education and also served as an AP exam reader for College Board for six years.  Karen has been actively writing in the field of environmental science and education with publications including AP teachers’ instructor’s manuals, AP student study guides, and more recently a field and laboratory manual for introductory college environmental science courses.
