Chief Academic Officer

Aimee is the Chief Academic Officer at Metro Early College High School, an Ohio STEM Learning Network platform school located on The Ohio State University’s campus. Having been at Metro since the school’s second year, she has also served as assistant principal and classroom teacher. During her tenure year at Metro, a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) school that places emphasis on subject mastery and early college opportunities, she has been studying at The Ohio State University to earn her PhD in Educational Administration.   Her experience as an educator, firmly rooted in the belief that all students can achieve at high levels when given the opportunity to do so, has included several opportunities to design professional development opportunities and lead reform initiatives.

Aimee is currently one of the educational leaders coaching schools in the Literacy Design Collaborative College Ready Tools initiative sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and serves as the liaison between Metro and Battelle for Kids as they incorporate the use of ACT End-of-Course Exams and Value Added Measures into high schools across Ohio. She has presented at the National Academy of Engineers about integrated STEM, at Change the Equation STEM Salon about partnerships, at CES Fall Forum about mastery learning, at the Ohio School Board Association conference about Ohio’s Credit Flex policy and at the Ohio SIG Best Practices conference regarding innovative schedules and assessment practices, and  the LDC CRTs. She has also held leadership roles in Ohio’s High School Transformation Initiative, Ohio’s Early College initiative and Ohio’s Literacy initiative.

She began her teaching career at The Freshman Academy in Canton City Schools--one of Ohio’s “Big 8” Urban Districts. During her career in Canton City Schools, Aimee worked at the Freshmen Academy and McKinley Senior High School where she held a variety of leadership roles including team leader, English Department Chair, and Literacy Specialist. Aimee completed her undergraduate degree at Malone College, with a major in Communications Comprehensive, and earned a Master's in Education and principal licensure at the University of Akron.
